Scouting For Food

posted Nov 10, 2013, 2:24 PM by Alameda Troop 2   [ updated Nov 11, 2013, 4:14 PM ]

It is time once again for the annual Boy Scout Scouting for Food Drive. Our scouts will be placing 'Scouting For Food' door hangers in our neighboorhood between November 4 and 10, 2013.

We ask our neighbors to donate non-perishable food items and then set the bag outside their doors by 9 a.m. Nov. 16 for pick up.

For more information on this food drive, you may contact us at
Here's additional instruction for our scouts and patrol leaders from Scoutmaster Mark.

The Scouting for Food Pickup is this Saturday, Nov 16, starting at 9 AM.  The patrols which handed out the flyers, have the same area to pick up the food and the patrol leader is responsible for the pick up.  If the patrol leader has a conflict, he needs to delegate the leadership of the service project to the APL and so forth.  If the patrols need further help, call SPL, Hank S.

The boys can start later than 9 AM but must deliver the food to the collection center at Trinity Lutheran Church kitty corner from First Presbyterian Church.

We are asking this year if there is no food bag in front of the house, to politely knock on the door and tell the person answering the door words to the effect “We’re collecting food for the Alameda Food Bank, do you wish to donate?”  You may want to bring along some boxes to put some loose cans in.
